With four of its members (LDH, BEMIS, CHC and APDHA), AEDH is involved in a European project on the rights of Roma persons.
INSEROM, as it is called, aims at empowering the Roma communities residing in the partners’ countries by making them knowledgeable about their rights, at national and European levels, for them to be able to defend these rights and to fight the discrimination they are facing.

18 December 2013: International Migrants Day

On the occasion of the International Migrants Day, several activities have been organized in the Member States. The International Migrants Day is celebrated on 18 December to commemorate the adoption of the “International convention on the protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families” of 18 December 1990. The EU Member States have not yet ratified the convention.

On 12th and 13th December 2013, the Closing Conference of the European Year of Citizens 2013 took place at the Lithuanian Parliament “Seimas” in Vilnius. During this event, the chair of European Year of Citizens Alliance (EYCA) officially handed over EYCA Policy Document:

UE-Turkey readmission agreement: a threat to Human rights

Ahmet Davutoglu (Turkish foreign affairs minister) and the EU Commissioners Cecilia Malmström and Stefan Füle announced that on the 16th December Turkey will sign an agreement on the readmission of migrants entering the EU illegally from its territory; in exchange for signing the readmission agreement, the EU will open up the way for visa liberalization for Turkish nationals.
