France: “Roma baby: how far will the exclusion go?”

5 January 2015 – In 2012, the Council of State established the right to accommodation as a fundamental freedom. Two years later, there have never been so many homeless people in France, having to sleep in a precarious accommodation or no accommodation at all. Whether they are longstanding homeless, precarious workers or unaccompanied foreign minors, the “115” (emergency shelters) or the hastily open gymnasiums struggle to accomodate them.

Aurore Martin: Open letter to the French Minister of justice co-signed by LDH, AEDH, EMHRN and FIDH

20 January 2015 – In a open letter to Madam Chritiane Taubira – the French Minister of justice – the LDH, the AEDH, the REMDH and the FIDH condemn Aurore Martin’s arrest. This young French woman is currently detained in Spain under a European arrest warrant issued by the Spanish courts for offences not punishable in France and for which the French courts haven’t authorised her surrender to the Spanish authorities.
